Fullerton Art Walk
'Fullerton Art Walk' in Historic Downtown Fullerton is a brand-spanking-new feature brought to you by the Downtown Art Community, which is more diverse than you can imagine.  It will take place the 1st Friday of every month.  Our aim is to bring you to the historic and cultural center of our fair city for a Friday night highlight of Fullerton’s creative core and public art venues.  The premier art walk happened 3/5/10 and it's going strong.  Many retailers, restaurants, salons and traditional galleries will be featuring local, and other original work.  A map of the participating venues is available at any of the locations which, as luck would have it, includes OTTO and Out Of Vogue!  See you then!
Fullerton Museum Center

The Fullerton Museum Center is dedicated to developing and presenting the best in multi-disciplinary exhibitions and educational programs in the areas of history, science, and art.  The FMC also hosts a Thursday-night Market and Fair featuring music, fun for the kids, and the best farmer's market fare you can imagine - food, flowers, produce, bread, artsencrafts, beerenwine garden!  See you there from 4:00pm 'til 9:00pm through November.

Psychadelic Poster Exhibit
Exhibit Description:

Technicolor Dreaming: Psychedelic Posters from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum

April 17, 2010- July 11, 2010

The pop and the counterculture movements of the mid-1960s led to the rise of a new visual style, the psychedelic poster.  Over thirty such posters, influenced by the experimental music and lifestyles of the 1960s and 70s, are featured in an exhibition organized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Cleveland, Ohio.  The collection includes examples from the two main series of San Francisco psychedelic rock and concert posters, Bill Graham Presents and Family Dog Presents, and features leading American and British rock artists of the era playing at venues such as the Avalon and Fillmore ballrooms, among others.

On-Going Exhibit
Exhibit Description:

Solid Design: Leo Fender's Telecaster (Opened March 22, 2008)
The first commercially successful solidbody electric guitar, an instrument that changed music history. Numerous examples from the early years will be on display. There will also be a noticeable celebrity component in the images and presentation, including Telecasters once owned by stars.
OCMA
The Orange County Museum of Art is the premier visual arts organization in Orange County, California, serving a population of nearly three million residents in one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country. With critically acclaimed exhibitions  and award winning education programs.
FOX Fullerton Theatre
This old theater has seen better days and has been on the verge of being demolished since it closed in 1987.  Now, with the help of concerned citizens of Fullerton and of the community of Fox Theater supporters it has been saved and is awaiting enough funds for a complete physical inside and out.  Please visit their site and perhaps see how you can help move her along to the next grand opening!  Also, check out the schedule of Movies On The Fox for the next outdoor screening --they're tons of fun and held on Thursday nights when you're already downtown for the Fullerton Market at the FMC. See you there!
...and to go greenly

OCTA Metrolink

Want to get here but don't want to drive? Take the Metrolink...even on weekends!
Other "must-clicks
to enhance your life experience...
Midcentury Marvels

Atomic Ranch is a quarterly magazine devoted to 1940's-70's ranch houses and modernist tract homes. They're cooler than you think...

This is a keeper for your home library, and luckily you can pick one up at OTTO. Current and some back issues available.
Modernism
The only magazine devoted to the great design movements of the 20th century, from Art Deco to Mid-Century, Pop and Post-Modern, with coverage of new products and interiors in a Modernist idiom. Also available at OTTO!

According to the 3/50 site, if just half of America's employed population spent $50 a month in local businesses, it would generate more than $42 billion a year in revenue. Further stats: For every $100 you spend for local businesses, $68 goes back to the community.... By comparison, if you spend $100 with a national chain, just $43 goes to the community.  Downtown Fullerton boasts many local businesses that add a flavor, and apparently more money, to the community.  Please come by and check us out.  We're definitely worth it.

Find out more about the composer of Shagxotica! a music cd inspired by the art of Shag. It is just one of the art-inspired music cds by Hans Karl, and the one you can find at OTTO, by the way.
